Former member of the SBS Board, Chair of the Ethnic Communities’ Council of NSW, 1979-81, and later Member of the NSW Legislative Council

It was SBS television for which (Prime Minister) Fraser had fought. It was that vehicle that brought the reality of the changing demography to the Australian populace. Here was a vehicle that was going to provide for the total constituency because it really was a multi-lingual service, as it were, and with subtitling it provided for everybody. You didn't have to speak Greek to watch SBS.
