Why is the FitzGerald Report gathering dust? Why is it? It was an excellent report. Nothing has been done about it. And I think it’s partly the political correctness. It’s partly because politicians didn’t find it attractive in the sense of being able to raise support. Some of the things that the Report recommended would have been unpopular. And the bureaucrats who work in these things couldn’t see any merit in it, because it would change the way in which they wished to pursue the whole thing.
